Position Summary:
The Payroll Systems Analyst (UKG) supports the day-to-day administration and project delivery for payroll and timekeeping systems, with a strong focus on testing execution, cutover readiness, and data integrations. This role partners with Payroll, HR, Finance, and IT to ensure accurate payroll results, reliable interfaces, and smooth go-lives. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable rolling up sleeves to troubleshoot, reconcile, and resolve issues quickly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide hands-on UKG support and administration as needed (configuration support, security/roles, reporting) and recommend process/system improvements.
- Execute payroll/timekeeping testing across releases and implementations (unit, integration, UAT, regression, and parallel payroll), including test scripts, evidence, defect logging, and re-test validation.
- Support and monitor UKG data integrations and file feeds (inbound/outbound); perform data mapping validation, balancing, and end-to-end interface reconciliations.
- Perform data extracts/imports and conversion validation, including analysis of exceptions and source-to-target reconciliation.
- Investigate and resolve payroll system issues by partnering with Payroll, HR, Finance, vendors, and IT; communicate status, risks, and mitigations.
- Support cutover and go-live readiness activities (mock cutovers, runbooks, checklists, go/no-go inputs) and provide hyper-care triage post-deployment.
- Develop and maintain documentation (test plans/results, integration maps, cutover steps, SOPs) to support operational continuity and auditability.
Required Qualifications:
- Business Operations Payroll and Timekeeping Experience in company of 3K+ Employees.
- Hands-on experience with UKG (UKG Pro, UKG WFM, UKG Ready, UKG Dimensions, or Workforce Central), including supporting payroll operations and/or implementations.
- Experience with payroll/timekeeping implementation lifecycle phases (planning, conversion, testing, deployment, hyper-care).
- Experience supporting cutover/go-live activities and post-go-live stabilization (hyper-care), including checklist-driven execution.
- Experience with data integrations (inbound/outbound files, APIs, middleware, or ETL) and performing reconciliation/balancing across systems.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to document, track, and follow through on issues to resolution.
- Ability to “roll up sleeves” to investigate data issues, run validations, and meet payroll-critical deadlines.
- Working knowledge of payroll concepts (earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, retro, and compliance controls).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with middleware/integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft) and creating/validating data mapping documents.
- Experience with reporting tools and data analysis (Excel; Cognos a plus).
- Union payroll exposure and/or multi-state payroll experience.
- Construction or similar industry experience.
- Certifications such as CPP, PMP, or CBAP.
