The HR Payroll Administrator is responsible for owning and processing end-to-end payroll operations across multiple business units and states. This role ensures accurate, timely weekly payroll processing within UKG Ready, while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
This individual will serve as the subject matter expert for payroll, partnering closely with HR and Finance to ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and process weekly payroll for multiple business units operating across various U.S. states.
- Administer end-to-end payroll operations within UKG Ready, including data validation, auditing, and final approval processing.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, garnishments, PTO accruals, overtime rules, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain payroll records, reconciliations, adjustments, and audit-ready documentation in accordance with company policies.
- Partner with HR to validate new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, benefit deductions, and other payroll-impacting transactions.
- Collaborate with Finance to support payroll-related reporting, general ledger reconciliation, and audit requests.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitor and implement updates related to state-specific payroll laws and regulatory changes.
- Support payroll system upgrades, integrations, testing, and process improvements within UKG Ready.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and related reporting.
- Contribute to special projects and process optimization initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state, multi-entity environment.
- Proven experience owning full-cycle payroll processing.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Extensive, hands-on proficiency with UKG Ready.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally across HR, Finance, and leadership teams.
