Job summary

Map Communications, Inc. in Chesapeake, Virginia is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to oversee the employee life cycle, including onboarding, payroll processing, benefits administration, and offboarding.

This in-office role requires strong leadership of the payroll team and a focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous process improvement. You will manage system migrations, ensure federal/state/local compliance, and coordinate with ADP filings and year-end W-2 processing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Experience with multi-state payroll and federal/state/local requirements.
• Proficient with ADP WFN or similar HRIS systems.
• Strong coaching, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, mentor and support payroll team members.
• Lead payroll initiatives including system migrations and process improvements.
• Establish and maintain SOPs for payroll processing, reporting, and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
• Review and approve payrolls to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Resolve complex payroll discrepancies, system issues, tax concerns, and pay inquiries.
• Oversee payroll tax activities, including ADP filings and year-end W-2 processing.
• Conduct internal audits and reconciliations.
• Help shape payroll operations around accuracy and continuous improvement.
