Job summary

Pathward, N.A. is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure timely and accurate delivery and accounting of salaries, wages, commissions, and incentive payments. You will process bi-weekly payrolls and validate reports, while maintaining data integrity across payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Processes bi-weekly payrolls for specific employee groups. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
• Monitors submissions of approved time sheets and ensure valid data transfers to/from payroll service.
• Ensures accuracy of records by maintaining database with updates in status changes, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, time off accruals, etc.
• Researches and resolves employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, deductions, direct deposit, garnishments, and leave-related payroll impacts.
• Provides accurate figures for computing severance and vacation payout amounts as needed.
• Assists with payroll tax activities including tax notice research, agency correspondence, account reconciliations, and payroll tax reporting support.
• Develops ad hoc payroll, financial, and operational reporting as required.
• Analyzes and prepares general ledger journal entries and reconciliations; complete general ledger and checking reconciliations by deadlines.
• Administers various system interfaces with general ledger, payroll, benefits, and timekeeping applications.
• Processes correct garnishment and other special payroll deduction calculations to ensure compliance as required.
• Reviews changes for proper authorization and compliance with federal/state/local regulations.
• Assists with leave of absence payroll processing and validates benefit deductions, arrears balances, and payroll impacts.
• Records payroll invoices into the accounts payable system.
• Supports internal and external audit requests by preparing payroll documentation and responding to information requests.
• Maintains procedures, desk guides, and documentation for assigned responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned.
