Job summary

Top Stack is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll processing, reporting, compliance, and related accounting activities. You will ensure accurate and timely payroll, maintain employee payroll records, and assist the broader accounting team.

Responsibilities include processing payroll, updating new hires and terminations, reviewing deductions and taxes, maintaining records, ensuring compliance, and supporting audits and reconciliations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of payroll or related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, reconciliations, controls, and payroll taxes.
  • Experience with payroll software; ADP experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll and ensure accurate and timely employee payments.
  • Maintain payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes.
  • Review payroll deductions, taxes, benefits, and garnishments for accuracy.
  • Maintain payroll records, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements.
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations and internal controls.
  • Provide payroll documentation and support for audits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and procedures.
  • Assist with additional payroll and accounting responsibilities as needed.
