Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing across multiple divisions and grant-funded operations, with strict adherence to California wage laws and organizational policies. The role emphasizes data integrity within UKG and related systems.

Collaborate with HR, Finance, and program leadership to set up employees, allocations, and funding codes, supporting audits and financial accountability across the division.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of payroll processing experience
• Experience with UKG or similar HRIS/payroll systems
• Knowledge of California wage and hour laws and payroll tax regulations

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll for all divisional employees across multiple programs and grant-funded operations
• Review timesheets, earnings codes, and pay adjustments for accuracy
• Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, and data updates
• Maintain payroll records, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings
• Ensure proper allocation of payroll expenses across funding sources
• Reconcile payroll reports and GL postings with Finance
• Assist with W-2s, month-end, and year-end payroll processes
