Job summary

Superior Energy Services in Houston, TX is seeking a Payroll Specialist to administer domestic payroll processing, ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of earnings, deductions, tax elections, direct deposit data and reporting.

Responsibilities include daily payroll operations, time and attendance processing, ad hoc financial reporting, and off-cycle payroll. CPP is preferred. This role requires handling confidential information with professionalism and strong regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• CPP certification is preferred but not required.
• 4–6 years experience processing multi-state payroll.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
• Proficiency in Excel and Kronos (Dimensions).
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily payroll department operations.
• Backup to expense management system.
• Aid in creating Journal Entries.
• Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate reports; understand taxation of employer paid benefits.
• Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.
• Execute time and attendance processing & reconciliation; interface with payroll.
• Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
• Process off-cycle payroll with various types of bookings (e.g., stock options, relocation).
• Verify Employee Action Forms to core systems.
