Job summary

Superior Energy Services in Houston, TX is seeking a Payroll Specialist to administer domestic payroll data, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal and state regulations.

The role handles daily payroll operations, journal entries, garnishments, time and attendance, off-cycle payrolls, and ad hoc reporting, with a focus on confidentiality and collaboration across finance.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years experience processing multi-state payroll.
• CPP is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
• Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
• Working knowledge of Kronos (Dimensions) is preferred.
• Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
• Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with various levels of management.
• Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily payroll department operations.
• Backup to expense management system.
• Aid in creating Journal Entries.
• Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate reports.
• Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
• Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.
• Execute time and attendance processing & interface with payroll.
• Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
• Process off-cycle payroll with various types of bookings.
• Verify HR EAF’s – Employee Action forms to core system.
