Job summary

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is seeking a Payroll Technician to analyze all employment, salary, and personal data on HR/Payroll transmittal forms in conjunction with SAP Personnel Administration.

You will validate materials for completeness, apply UNL policies and tax regulations, and train staff on HR/Payroll forms and SAP navigation. You will also serve as the initial payroll contact for walk-in employees and department staff.

Qualifications

• Associate’s in business administration, accounting or related field plus two years payroll and/or accounting experience required; equivalent education/experience considered.
• Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills in the use of word processing and spreadsheets necessary.
• Detail oriented, accurate and the ability to perform work in a timely manner necessary.

Responsibilities

• Analyze all employment, salary, and personal data received on HR/Payroll transmittal forms (PAF, PDF, I-9, W-4, etc.) in conjunction with SAP Personnel Administration.
• Validate incoming materials for completeness and accuracy.
• Utilize independent judgment when applying UNL policies, federal/state tax regulation, and INS regulations.
• Train and assist UNL staff in the completion of HR/Payroll transmittal forms and in the online navigation of SAP.
• Serve as initial Payroll contact for walk-in employees and department staff.
• Assist with processing special checks and calculating tax withholding, leave payouts, and over payments.
