Qualifikationen

• Minimum of three years payroll processing in a high-volume organization; higher education experience preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll fundamentals including wage-and-hour laws and federal/state taxes; familiarity with student payroll (FICA exemptions, FWS).
• Ability to communicate complex payroll information to employees and HR clearly and confidentially.
• Experience with payroll audits, GL reconciliations, and year-end reporting (W-2, 1095-C, 941).

Aufgaben

• Demonstrate mastery of payroll/timekeeping software (ADP, PeopleSoft T&L) for pre-transmittal and transmittal phases.
• Process timecard data, verify multi-rate overtime, shift differentials, and California meal/rest period adjustments.
• Handle off-cycle pay runs, manual checks, and final paychecks upon separation in compliance with timelines.
• Audit time entries and resolve missing/unapproved hours with department supervisors.
• Coordinate with HR, Benefits, and external vendors to resolve tax, deduction, and system discrepancies.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and assist with month-end/year-end close and escheatment tracking.
• Support audits and respond to subpoenas with the Office of the General Counsel as needed.
• Provide responsive help desk support for pay statements, withholdings, and W-2/1095-C forms.
