Haga Kommer, Ltd. is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Minnesota to join a growing professional firm. You will manage accurate payroll processing, maintain records, and ensure regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local requirements.

The role emphasizes data integrity, confidentiality, and collaboration with HR and Accounting to resolve discrepancies while staying current with payroll law changes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field (or equivalent); bachelor’s is a plus.
• At least two years of payroll experience in a multi-client or fast-paced environment.
• Solid knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Familiarity with wage and hour laws, including overtime, FLSA, and benefit deductions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and payroll/accounting software.
• Discretion handling sensitive information and tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on time – paystubs, paychecks, and direct deposits.
• Maintain client and employee payroll records from hires to terminations and changes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and wage laws.
• Calculate and process payroll deductions including benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions.
• File and remit federal and state payroll taxes, including monthly and quarterly filings.
• Prepare and file quarterly/annual tax forms (940, 941, W-2, W-3) and state reports.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and verify data accuracy.
• Assist employees and clients with payroll, tax withholding, and deduction questions.
