Job summary

QQR Freight is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to own payroll from start to finish, covering driver payroll and office staff across multiple entities in Cincinnati, OH.

You will manage weekly driver payroll with miles, detention, and per diem, and semimonthly office payroll through Paychex, including overtime, PTO, and commissions. This role partners with HR, Operations, and Finance to ensure accurate, timely pay.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of full-cycle payroll experience, including driver payroll or settlements in a trucking/transportation setting
• Hands-on experience running office payroll for salaried, hourly, and commissioned staff
• Solid understanding of trucking operations and how loads/miles/hours flow into driver pay
• Knowledge of wage-and-hour rules for drivers and office staff, including FLSA overtime and Carrier exemptions
• Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Paychex, ADP) and strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, reconciliations)
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with high-volume data

Responsibilities

• Process weekly driver payroll and settlements across multiple states, including mileage, load, detention, and per diem
• Process semimonthly office payroll for salaried and hourly staff, including overtime and PTO
• Reconcile deductions, benefits, and commissions; review payroll invoices vs registers
• Collaborate with HR/Recruiting on hires, terminations, and status changes in payroll
• Maintain payroll records for separate entities with multiple pay schedules
• Support audits and year-end reporting with documentation and reconciliations
