Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a payroll processing professional to train clients on payroll processes, collect pay data, and ensure compliance across multiple states. You will work with third-party payroll databases (ADP, Paycor, Paycom, Paychex, UKG Ready Now) and prepare reports, audits, and paycheck calculations while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in nonprofit charter school environments.

Strong Excel skills and knowledge of payroll laws are required, along with the ability to learn

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience with third-party payroll databases (ADP, Paycor, Paycom, Paychex, UKG Ready Now).
• Knowledge of financial and accounting record-keeping methods.
• Intermediate knowledge of payroll and wage-and-hour laws.
• Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook; including XLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multi-state payroll processing.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and work with assigned clients and train them on payroll processes and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Collect and enter approved pay information each pay period and review payroll reports for accuracy before submission.
• Assist clients with final-check and other payroll-related calculations.
• Prepare and submit retirement reporting and payments for 403(b)/401(k) and potentially STRS/PERS plans.
• Assist Staff Accountants with reconciliation of payroll-related liability accounts before month-end close.
• Create, update, and distribute payroll calendars and due-date reminders.
• Review client paperwork and enter new hires and employee changes into payroll systems.
• Research STRS membership type for client new hires.
• File payroll documents on the internal server.
• Run post-payroll backup reports and ad hoc client reports.
• Gather audit backup documentation and prepare payroll audit workpapers.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures for process improvement and efficiency.
• Complete other assigned duties or projects.
