Job summary

Emergence Health Network is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to manage all payroll activities across multiple states. You will ensure accurate processing, compliance with tax laws, and timely reporting, working under general supervision.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field and at least two years of multi-state payroll experience; CPP is preferred. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field major supplemented by two (2) years of experience processing multi-state payroll; CPP preferred.
• Experience with trauma-informed services; cognitive behavioral therapies including DBT and motivational therapies including the use of incentives, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily payroll department operations.
• Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
• Understand and assist with proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
• Execute eTime time and attendance processing and interface with payroll.
• Perform compliance for unclaimed property payroll checks.
• Reconcile and validate employee retirement plan contributions, employer matching contributions, and employee benefit deductions each payroll cycle to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely remittance to retirement and benefit plan providers.
• Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc.) and reporting in conformance with Affordable Care Act.
• Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
• Prepare month end close reports.
• Process manual checks.
• Update and reconcile monthly bank statements from HRIS financial system.
• Coordinate updating of new hires and terminations with Human Resources.
• Approves and processes employee mileage reimbursement.
• Prepare general journal entries for accounting transactions to include accrual entries.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll deductions.
• Reconcile and prepare grant/contract monthly and quarterly vouchers.
• Reconcile and prepare bank reconciliations.
• Serve as Representative Payee backup.
• Maintains fixed assets sub-ledger and associated acquisition/depreciation schedules.
• Assist in preparation of audit schedules.
• Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrates commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts.
• Creates a high-quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills.
