Job Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing and supporting all payroll-related functions. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and internal policies. To be successful in this position, you must have a passion for doing things right, have the curiosity to continually learn, possess excellent collaboration skills, be open and transparent, and have the desire to make an impact with your problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to review and distill multiple sources of information to support strategy and provide direction.
  • Proven decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Well-versed in coordinating and processing all employee Leaves of Absences & COBRA.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide follow up.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the multi-state, bi-monthly payroll processing functions, including required reporting and analytics. Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve payroll issues and ensure accuracy.
  • Provide payroll and compliance-related administrative support to the Human Resources department for invoicing, benefits, onboarding, terminations, leave of absence, compliance reporting, 401(k) auditing, and various census requests.
  • Manage benefit carrier integrations with the HRIS to ensure accurate data transfer between systems.
  • Respond to various payroll report requests and prepare wage reports for external auditing agencies.
  • Maintain and update payroll and benefits databases to organize, collect, and retrieve data for reporting. Validate data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Research payroll and benefit record-keeping issues, including sick leave, vacation balances, and salary projections. Perform adjustments as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of new payroll and benefits procedures and work production timelines to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in an administrative support role, preferably within a multi-state employer setting.
  • Exceptional payroll processing skills, including a basic understanding of accounting.
  • Experience with benefit plans such as health, 401(k), FSA, and other related benefits.
  • Knowledge of ADP and Wrike is preferred.
  • Understanding of data analysis, reporting, and the overall organizational framework required to meet business objectives.
  • Ability to learn and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills to proactively identify issues, troubleshoot, and effectively resolve complex payroll and benefits problems.
  • Well-organized and able to prioritize workload effectively to meet tight deadlines.
  • Capable of efficiently managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, professional environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrates outstanding customer service and active listening abilities.
  • Dependable, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

LOCATION: This is a remote position open to candidates in the United States.

COMPENSATION: $58,000 - $68,000 DOE
