Job summary

Thomas Edwards Group seeks a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support a 1,100-employee, multi-state workforce. This in-house role offers growth into a future Payroll Director-level position and requires strong payroll accounting knowledge.

You will handle end-to-end payroll, tax compliance, W-2s, and month-/year-end activities while maintaining confidentiality and working with HR and Accounting on process improvements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing and payroll accounting experience.
• Strong multi-state payroll experience required.
• Payroll tax experience required.
• ADP experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field strongly preferred.
• Understanding of payroll reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll accounting processes.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Desire and potential to grow into future leadership opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end, in-house payroll for employees across multiple states.
• Ensure accurate payroll calculations including earnings, deductions, garnishments, taxes, and adjustments.
• Manage and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and growth-minded Payroll Specialist / Payroll Accountant to join a collaborative payroll team supporting a multi-state workforce of approximately 1,100 employees. This is a confidential replacement search for an organization that processes payroll fully in-house.

This role is ideal for someone with strong payroll accounting knowledge who wants long-term growth potential into a future Payroll Director-level position.

Key Responsibilities
