Job summary

Flagship is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join a fast-paced, close-knit team. You will compile and record employee time and payroll data, compute wages and deductions, and prepare paychecks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Workday payroll processing experience required (2+ years).
  • Fluent or bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
  • Proficiency in Excel and payroll tools.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and work with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile payroll before transmission and validate reports.
  • Manage workflow to ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Process daily payroll department operations.
  • Understand taxation of employer-paid benefits.
  • Compute garnishments and ensure compliance.
  • Process time sheets, attendance, and interface with payroll system.
  • Perform year-end reporting when necessary.
  • Resolve payroll issues via ticketing system (ServiceNow).

Our Payroll Specialist will compile and record employee time and payroll data. May compute employees' time worked, production and commissions. May compute and post wages and deductions or prepare paychecks.

Essential Functions
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
  • Manage work flow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Perform daily payroll department operations
  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
  • Execute time sheets and attendance processing and interface with payroll
  • Perform compliance for unclaimed property payroll checks
  • Process manual check and relocation metrics
  • Research and email appropriate audience of file issues
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary
  • Resolve payroll issues via ticketing system (ServiceNow)
Knowledge and Skills
  • Workday payroll processing experience is required (2+ years)
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
  • Union knowledgeable
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
  • Strong work ethic and team player

Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 5 years of experience in multi state payroll

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments
