Job summary

Charge is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team. The role handles all payroll processing for employees, ensuring accurate and timely compensation in compliance with applicable laws.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of union construction payroll experience, familiarity with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage, plus Viewpoint Vista and Excel skills. You will collaborate with HR and Accounting, support audits, and stay updated on wage and tax regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; related degree preferred.
  • 2+ years in a union construction payroll environment with certified payroll reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, FLSA, overtime, taxes, deductions, and union dues reporting.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems, Viewpoint Vista highly preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Collaborative across departments and team oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and office software.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for all employees (salary, hourly, and contract) on a scheduled basis.
  • Verify and input timekeeping, overtime, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain employee records related to payroll, benefits, and deductions.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and management.
  • Coordinate with HR and Accounting to resolve discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports for management review.
  • Assist audits with requested payroll information and documentation.
  • Stay informed of wage and tax regulation changes.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Payroll Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for all payroll processing activities, ensuring the accurate and timely compensation of employees in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, confidentiality, and a thorough understanding of payroll systems and procedures.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll for all employees, including salary, hourly, and contract staff, on a scheduled basis.
  • Verify and input accurate payroll data such as timekeeping records, overtime, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain and update employee records related to payroll, benefits, and deductions.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and Accounting teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
  • Prepare and submit required payroll reports for management review.
  • Assist with audits by providing requested payroll information and documentation as needed.
  • Stay informed of legislative changes affecting payroll procedures, wage laws, and tax regulations.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a union construction payroll environment with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, FLSA, overtime, taxes, deductions and union dues reporting.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems, Viewpoint Vista highly preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to collaborate within a dynamic team environment and across departments.
  • Microsoft Excel and office software skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) credential.
  • Experience in multi-state or union payroll.
  • Experience with Certified Payroll is a plus
  • Experience integrating payroll systems with HR and accounting platforms.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptability to regulatory and technology changes
  • Time management and ability to meet deadlines
