AVAILABILITY Professional Staffing is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support a well-established construction organization. The role focuses on accurate, compliant weekly payroll for both union and non-union staff, with strong emphasis on timesheets, certified payroll, and job cost allocations.

You will collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Project Management to resolve discrepancies, maintain payroll records, and ensure confidentiality while supporting audits and year-end activities such as W-2

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll experience, with construction industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with union payroll, certified payroll, and prevailing wage requirements is highly valuable.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, labor compliance, and job cost accounting.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel (ERP experience a plus).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review timesheets, certified payroll, and job cost allocations.
  • Manage subcontractor certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including wages, deductions, benefits, and job cost codes.
  • Coordinate fringe benefit reporting for union employees and submit required documentation.
  • Reconcile payroll reports, general ledger postings, and quarterly filings.
  • Assist with year-end processes including W-2 and 1099 preparation.
  • Support audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies.
  • Partner with HR, Accounting, and Project Management to resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
