Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Experience processing union and non-union payroll for a large workforce preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Familiarity with union contracts and payroll-related compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly union and non-union hourly payrolls and semi-monthly salaried payrolls.
  • Maintain payroll integrity by validating employee data, compensation changes, deductions, and tax information.
  • Manage comprehensive payroll records and supporting documentation across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll systems, leading system updates, enhancements, implementations, and end-user support.
  • Review and verify payroll-related transactions for compliance with company policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Prepare and distribute recurring payroll, labor, and management reports on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
  • Administer 401(k) and related benefit programs, ensuring accurate payroll integration and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with retirement plan providers to maintain accurate employee contribution, eligibility, and census data.
  • Support annual 401(k) audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
  • Complete quarterly census reporting and other required benefit plan compliance filings in a timely manner.
