Job summary

Summa Health is seeking a Payroll Processor to handle accurate and timely biweekly payroll processing in a multi-state environment. The role includes testing pay codes, maintaining process documentation, and ensuring tax compliance across Federal, State, and Local levels.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree in Accounting/Finance or related field and at least two years of payroll experience, with Lawson HRIS and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Accounting, Finance or business related field or equivalent experience.
  • American Payroll Association FPC or CPP certification preferred.
  • Minimum of two years payroll processing experience or Payroll FPC/CPP certification.
  • Knowledge of FLSA and DOL.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax compliance; multi-state and PFMLA knowledge a plus.
  • Experience with automated payroll/HRIS systems; Lawson HRIS preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the internet.

Responsibilities

  • Process biweekly payroll in a multi-state environment, including occasional off-cycle runs, ensuring compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations.
  • Test new pay codes and deduction codes; update payroll process documentation and test regulatory bulletins for tax software.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external Summa Health stakeholders via phone or email.
  • Distribute payroll accurately and timely.

Summary
Responsible for the accurate and timely processing and distribution of payroll. Process biweekly payroll in a multi-state environment, with the occasional off-cycle, in compliance with all Federal, State and Local Regulatory Agencies as defined by law. Test new pay codes and deduction codes in compliance with all Federal, State and Local tax compliance; updating and maintaining payroll process documentation; testing of Regulatory Bulletins for BSI tax software. Provides customer service to Summa Health’s internal and external customers via telephone or email.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Formal Education Required:
  • Associates degree in Accounting, Finance or business related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • American Payroll Association Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CCP) preferred.
  • Experience and Training Required:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of payroll processing experience, and/or Payroll FPC or CPP Certification.
  • Knowledge of FLSA and DOL
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax compliance. Multi-state and PFMLA tax knowledge a plus
  • Previous experience with automated payroll/HRIS systems. Lawson HRIS preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the internet.

  • Must possess good mathematical skills and ability to perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
