Job summary

ExED in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Payroll and Retirement Associate to join a 16-person payroll team. The role focuses on payroll processing for multiple charter schools and retirement plan administration, with strong emphasis on accuracy and customer service.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of payroll experience, proficient in Word and Excel, and strong communication and organizational skills. This full-time position offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3–5 years of payroll processing experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Upload or key data, review and process payroll for several client schools.
• Maintain accurate and current data in the payroll system and virtual personnel files.
• Determine eligibility and enrollment into CalSTRS and CalPERS retirement plans.
• Setup and process garnishment orders.
• Submit 401(k) and 403(b) employee deductions to vendors.
• Create and submit monthly CalSTRS and CalPERS retirement reports.
• Knowledge of quarterly payroll tax filings.
• Deposit SDI payments online to EDD.
• Assist in periodic training on payroll policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with accounting and other ExED staff when necessary.
• Assist schools with general payroll questions.
