Job summary

Ball State University seeks a Payroll Specialist to lead accurate payroll production for all employees. You will ensure compliance with policies and tax regulations while managing timekeeping, earnings, deductions, and reporting in Workday.

Responsibilities include auditing timesheets, preparing payroll data, and communicating pay policies. Strong Excel skills and 3+ years of related experience are required; the role is on-campus in Muncie, IN with full benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent.
• At least three years of related experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer the entire payroll process from timecard to paycheck, serving as a SME for assigned employee group.
• Educate employees and timecard managers on timekeeping; audit timesheets for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare the payroll system for processing; verify dates, deposits, earnings and deductions; review new hires and pay rates.
• Process timely and accurate payrolls; create and maintain payroll procedures; review payroll registers for accuracy.
• Create and utilize files and reports for auditing and data integrity; monitor labor spend and propose optimizations.
