Job summary

PuzzleHR is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support and oversee payroll operations for assigned clients using a vendor-specific platform. You will process payroll accurately and on time, maintain data integrity, and execute transactions in line with established processes and service expectations.

You will analyze procedures, recommend improvements, collaborate with clients, and help onboard new clients while developing SOPs and ensuring scalable workflows.

Qualifications

• Hands-on payroll processing experience in a vendor-specific system.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency for auditing large data sets.
• Experience using Excel formulas (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIF(S), COUNTIF(S)).
• Experience managing client-facing payroll communications.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field; 5+ years payroll experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payrolls for multiple clients using the vendor-specific platform.
• Audit payroll data for accuracy, including earnings, deductions, and accruals.
• Perform payroll balancing to ensure precise processing.
• Manage changes for hires, terminations, and compensation updates in vendor systems.
• Process off-cycle payrolls, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive adjustments.
• Support payroll imports, integrations, and timekeeping reviews.
• Collaborate with clients to collect, validate, and process inputs.
• Onboard new clients by documenting workflows and payroll calendars.
• Analyze procedures and recommend improvements for efficiency and scalability.
• Develop client-specific payroll SOPs and process records.
