Job summary

The City of Redmond is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to lead the Payroll Team, manage biweekly processing, and ensure accuracy and compliance with laws and city policies. Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, the role emphasizes service, integrity, accountability, and collaboration in a high-volume municipal environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising payroll staff and processes.
• Knowledge of IRS, FLSA, Washington state payroll laws.
• Ability to interpret payroll laws and collective bargaining agreements.
• Experience with biweekly payroll processing and reconciliations.
• Public sector payroll experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise payroll staff; assign, train, and support employee development.
• Plan and oversee biweekly payroll processing; ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Review payroll transactions; monitor schedules; reconcile data; coordinate with HR/Bene/Dept.
• Develop and maintain payroll controls, SOPs; monitor regulatory changes.
• Perform reconciliations, journal entries, tax/retirement reporting, year-end processing.
• Evaluate operations; recommend process improvements; enhance efficiency and internal controls.
• Lead payroll system implementations; coordinate with IT, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Provide training and guidance on payroll laws and policies.
