Job summary

Staffmark is hiring a Payroll Manager in Lafayette, LA for a first-shift role offering $75,000–$95,000 annually. You’ll lead end-to-end multi-state payroll and ensure compliance with payroll laws and ERP integrations.

This role emphasizes leadership and collaboration with payroll, HR, and accounting teams to deliver accurate payroll and robust internal controls. The position focuses on process improvement and timely reporting while supporting complex payroll operations and a growing organization

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field preferred.
• At least five years of payroll-management experience.
• Multi-state payroll-processing experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with payroll platforms and ERP integrations.
• CMiC experience preferred.
• Certified Payroll Professional certification preferred.
• Experience with payroll tax filings and reconciliations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to make independent decisions and resolve complex payroll issues.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Commitment to process improvement and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end multi-state payroll processing.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Oversee payroll tax filings and compliance activities.
• Process and monitor garnishments and benefits deductions.
• Complete payroll and tax reconciliations.
• Reconcile payroll-related general-ledger accounts.
• Support month-end closing activities.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries.
• Maintain and improve payroll systems and workflows.
• Support and enhance ERP integrations.
• Develop scalable payroll procedures.
• Establish and maintain effective internal controls.
• Partner with Human Resources, Accounting, and Operations.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and timely internal reporting.
• Provide payroll guidance, training, and process support to internal teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll efficiency and accuracy.
