Job summary

Northwest Ambulance in Everett, WA is hiring its first Payroll Manager to own payroll end-to-end for about 430 employees. You will design pay practices, interpret FLSA and Washington wage laws, and ensure tax and regulatory compliance while coordinating timekeeping and payroll systems.

Lead system configuration in ADP, manage audits, and drive process improvements. This on-site role offers growth in a growing 24/7 operation with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of payroll experience for hundreds of employees.
• Ability to interpret wage and hour law and apply it to pay practices.
• Working knowledge of WA requirements (L&I, WA Cares, Paid Sick Leave).
• FLSA regular-rate calculation knowledge.
• Experience reconciling payroll and tax filings.
• Hands-on ADP experience configuring earnings codes and pay rules.

Responsibilities

• Design payroll operations: cycles, rules, approvals, and controls.
• Own tax, L&I, WA Cares, and related compliance and audits.
• Oversee timekeeping accuracy and policy enforcement.
• Run payroll cycles in ADP and ensure data integrity from ESO exports.
• Reconcile GL, payroll liability, and W-2s; manage off-cycle payments.
• Improve processes; document procedures; automate workflows where possible.
