Job summary

Capstone, a multifaceted CPA firm in Boise, Idaho, seeks a Payroll Lead responsible for building relationships with payroll clients and staff and for developing company-wide payroll policies to ensure on-time, accurate processing in compliance with government regulations.

You will oversee payroll inquiries, process transactions (salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes), and maintain updates for new hires and terminations while guiding a team of Payroll Specialists.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in payroll processing or a similar role.
  • Proven expertise with QuickBooks Desktop for payroll calculation, processing, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud-based payroll (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Paychex Flex, Gusto, etc.).
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational process for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Must inspire others and maintain a culture of transparency, integrity, and honesty in all aspects of your role.
  • Creative problem-solving and negotiating skills.
  • Proven ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Partners in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans.
  • Oversee procedures and processes and manage inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll.
  • Process payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll software, systems, and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Conduct work planning, estimation, and prioritization to optimize performance of team.
  • Manage effective internal/external client relationships.
  • Manage Payroll Specialists and assist with departmental trainings.
  • Uphold organization policies and standards, ensuring legislative regulations are followed.
  • Work closely with human resources to lead team with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.

The Job
