Job summary

Capstone Group in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Payroll Lead to manage payroll operations, ensure on-time and accurate processing, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

You will lead the Payroll Specialists, collaborate with Partners and HR, and drive process improvements by developing SOPs and updating payroll policies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of dedicated experience in payroll processing or a similar role.
• Proven expertise with QuickBooks Desktop for payroll calculation, processing, and reporting.
• Experience with cloud-based payroll (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Paychex Flex, Gusto).
• Ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
• Demonstrated leadership to inspire others with integrity and transparency.
• Creative problem-solving and strong team development skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Partners in developing performance goals and long-term plans.
• Oversee payroll procedures and respond to inquiries related to payroll.
• Process payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
• Ensure accurate timely updates for hires, terminations, and pay-rate changes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and best practices.
• Facilitate audits by providing records to auditors.
• Identify updates to payroll software, systems, and SOPs.
• Plan, estimate, and prioritize work to optimize team performance.
• Manage internal/external client relationships and supervise Payroll Specialists.
• Uphold company policies and regulatory requirements, fostering a trustworthy environment.
• Collaborate with HR to lead the team with integrity and inclusivity.

We have close relationships with financial advisors and family attorneys which enable us to provide a full array of services to our clients under one roof.

The Job

The Payroll Leadis responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with payroll clients and staff, developing company-wide payroll policies and procedures, and ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

What do we need you to do?

• Collaborate with Partners in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans.
• Oversee procedures and processes and manage inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll.
• Process payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
• Identify and recommend updates to payroll software, systems, and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Conduct work planning, estimation, and prioritization to optimize performance of team.
• Manage effective internal/external client relationships.
• Manage Payroll Specialists and assist with departmental trainings.
• Uphold organization policies and standards, ensuring legislative regulations are followed.
• Work closely with human resources to lead team with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.

Qualifications for this position:

• 5+ years of dedicated experience in payroll processing or a similar role.
