Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) in Colfax, WA seeks a Fiscal Specialist 1 to provide clerical and fiscal support. You will serve as the primary timekeeper for Area 2, ensuring accurate payroll, leave balances, and schedules, while handling invoicing and inventory control.

You will also assist with budget monitoring, permits, and public-facing programs, coordinating with internal and external partners to keep maintenance operations efficient and compliant.

Qualifications

• Administrative & clerical experience in an office environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, email systems, scanners, copiers, printers, multi-line phones.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, customers and external partners.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll, personnel and financial information.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as principal timekeeper for Maintenance and Operations Area 2, payroll, leave balances, and schedules.
• Code credit card purchases, verify vendor invoices, and prepare payment vouchers.
• Track daily consumables inventory and reconcile using multiple databases.
• Answer public and agency inquiries via multi-line telephone and route to appropriate personnel.
• Issue Special Motor Vehicle Permits and audit for accuracy.
• Maintain filing, contracts, calendars, and reference materials.
