Job summary

East Bay Agency for Children (EBAC) in Oakland, CA is seeking an Accountant to manage payroll, accounts payable, and cash receipts, ensuring timely posting of time data and accurate monthly closings.

Under the Accounting Manager, you will process semi-monthly payroll, handle vendor invoices, reconcile accounts, and provide ad hoc financial reporting. A BA degree and 3–5 years’ accounting experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years accounting experience required.
• Payroll experience or CPP certification required.
• Experience with ADP payroll and timekeeping systems; Abila MIP accounting is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to present information professionally.
• Detail oriented with ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze timekeeping entries each pay period to ensure accuracy before interfacing with payroll.
• Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure payroll data integrity.
• Process semi-monthly payroll and accounting entries accurately and timely.
• Handle special payrolls including manual checks as needed.
• Research and resolve questions from managers and employees regarding timekeeping and payroll.
• Participate in ongoing development and improvement of financial systems.
• Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
• Provide year-end support for auditors and reconciliations.
• Prepare special project analyses as needed.
• Provide backup to Accounts Payable and Cash Receipts processes.
• Process vendor invoices, employee expenses and mileage reports.
• Ensure proper project and GL codes and maintain vendor information.
• Upload check information into bank system for payment authentication.
• Maintain organized filing systems for vendors and documents.
• Process credit card charges with backup documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
