Job summary

The Colorado School of Mines is seeking an Employment Specialist to support payroll and employment operations within the MAPS office. You will manage end-to-end employment data in Workday, ensure accuracy, and uphold strong customer service while focusing on compliance and process improvements.

Responsibilities include audits, 1042‑S administration in Sprintax, and collaboration with HR and Payroll teams to drive efficiency and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in HR, communications or related field.
• Understanding HR principles and employment life cycle.
• Experience managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of higher education culture and governance.

Responsibilities

• Full life-cycle management of employment and payroll information for all employees, ensuring compliance.
• Process and review all employee transactions in Workday for accuracy and compliance.
• Enter supplemental data for accurate records, payroll processing, and benefits.
• Participate in meetings related to Employment Services, Payroll Operations, and HR.
• Identify areas of concern regarding compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure processes follow segregation of duties and control guidelines.
• Collaborate to define procedures and propose improvements.
• Conduct audits and assist with 1042‑S administration in Sprintax.
• Work with Employment Lead on corrections and training MAPS staff.
• Analyze transactional processes, identify efficiency opportunities, and develop metrics.
