Job summary

Phaxis is seeking an experienced Lead Payroll Specialist to steer end-to-end bi-weekly payroll for 1000+ employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

You will leverage Workday and ADP Smart Compliance to manage tax withholdings, year-end processing, and payroll governance while partnering with HR, Finance, IT, Benefits, and Banking Operations to drive automation and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Lead end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing for 1000+ employees across multiple states.
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll delivery using Workday and ADP Smart Compliance.
• Oversee payroll operations, tax compliance, payroll accounting, reconciliations, year-end processing, and multi-state regulatory requirements.
• Partner with HR, Finance, IT, Benefits, and Banking Operations to support payroll, compensation, audits, SOX compliance, and process improvements.
• Supervise a Payroll Specialist while driving payroll governance, automation initiatives, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvements.
• Serve as the payroll subject matter expert for Workday, ADP Smart Compliance, equity compensation, and cross-functional HRIS projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing for 1000+ employees across multiple states.
• Oversee payroll operations, tax compliance, payroll accounting, reconciliations, year-end processing, and multi-state regulatory requirements.
• Manage Workday HRIS transactions, including salary changes, bonuses, transfers, promotions, leave administration, and employee data updates.
• Partner with HR, Finance, IT, Benefits, and Banking Operations to support payroll, compensation, audits, SOX compliance, and process improvements.
• Supervise a Payroll Specialist while driving payroll governance, automation initiatives, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvements.
• Serve as the payroll subject matter expert for Workday, ADP Smart Compliance, equity compensation (RSUs/ESPP), and cross-functional HRIS projects.
