Job summary

Detroit Defense in Detroit is seeking a Payroll Clerk to manage payroll processing across Deltek Costpoint and Paylocity. You will pull approved labor data, clean it for import, run payroll, and reconcile results to ensure both systems match.

This role suits someone who handles high-volume data entry under deadlines and wants hands-on experience with both platforms. The position offers growth, strong internal controls, and opportunities to support government contracting environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 2–3 years payroll, timekeeping, or clerical accounting experience.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or Paylocity preferred.
• Accurate data entry and deadlines-driven.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Review employee timesheets in Deltek Costpoint for completeness and correct codes.
• Follow up with employees and supervisors on missing or unapproved timesheets.
• Correct timesheet entry errors with an audit trail.
• Prepare labor data for import into Paylocity.
• Import payroll data into Paylocity and resolve interface issues.
• Support semi-monthly/biweekly payroll runs for hourly and salaried staff.
• Reconcile Paylocity output with Costpoint labor data.
• Import finalized payroll data back into Costpoint for GL posting.
• Maintain Costpoint–Paylocity process documentation and escalate discrepancies.
• Assist with manual checks, off-cycle payments, and correction runs.
• Generate payroll and labor reports for Payroll and Accounting.
• Support audits by organizing timekeeping and payroll documentation.
• Assist month-end payroll reconciliations to the GL.
