Episcopal Homes in St. Paul, MN is seeking a Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team.

You will process bi-weekly payroll, support general accounting, and ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in computerized payroll processing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Review and process employee timecards in the payroll system, ensuring accuracy and necessary approvals.
  • Audit payroll documentation for errors and make corrections as needed.
  • Communicate with the HR department to verify payroll data, including new hires, terminations, transfers, and rate changes.
  • Process special payrolls as required.
  • Research and resolve employee and manager payroll inquiries related to PTO, direct deposit, garnishments, employment verifications, workers’ compensation, retroactive pay, tax withholdings, and other payroll-related issues.
  • Review, maintain and audit master payroll files, including year-to-date totals, hours worked, and deductions.
  • Complete payroll-related reporting for regulatory compliance, including CMS filings for skilled nursing facilities.
  • Maintain and organize payroll records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits (financial, 403(b), workers comp)
  • Assist with financial data entry, reporting, and cost reports.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, PTO balances, and paycheck discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support HR and payroll functions.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role processes bi-weekly payroll and supports general accounting and administrative functions across our organization.

Wage: $30.00 - $35.00/hour (depending on experience)

Schedule: HYBRID - Full-time, Monday–Friday

Job Summary:

The payroll coordinator is responsible for processing payroll for the entire organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution of payroll functions. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle employee inquiries with professionalism and customer service excellence. The payroll coordinator works closely with the human resources team to maintain payroll data integrity and ensure compliance with all payroll-related policies and regulations.

Working Conditions:
  • Standard office environment with minimal exposure to physical hazards.
  • Hybrid schedule, Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
  • Interaction with HR, finance, employees, and management to address payroll-related concerns.
