Payroll Clerk / Payroll Specialist – Automotive Dealership

Location: Barrington, IL

Murgado Automotive Group, a leading automotive dealership group, is hiring an experienced Payroll Clerk / Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across multiple dealership locations. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented payroll professional with strong compliance knowledge and dealership or multi‑entity payroll experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly and bi‑weekly payroll accurately and on time
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws
• Maintain payroll records, employee files, and audit documentation
• Resolve employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies
• Review and validate timecards and timekeeping data
• Partner with HR and Accounting on payroll reporting and reconciliation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s degree in Accounting preferred)
• 5+ years of payroll processing experience (automotive or multi‑location payroll preferred)
• Working knowledge of payroll systems; Paycom experience a plus
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Solid understanding of payroll tax and wage regulations
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet strict deadlines
