Job summary

Murgado Automotive Group in Barrington, IL is seeking an experienced Payroll & Compensation Manager to lead payroll operations for seven dealership locations, including hourly, salaried, commissioned, and union employees, and to identify process improvements across the group.

You will partner with executive leadership to ensure payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and the development of competitive pay plans aligned with business objectives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience with leadership responsibility.
• Experience processing payroll for commissioned employees in a multi-location environment.
• Experience managing union payroll and collective bargaining requirements.
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance.
• Ability to read and interpret automotive dealership financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll operations across seven dealership locations.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for hourly, salaried, commissioned, and union employees.
• Maintain payroll systems, controls, procedures, and documentation.
• Verify payroll data including hours, commissions, bonuses, and deductions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and union payroll regulations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain compensation plans aligned with performance metrics.
• Supervise payroll staff and manage audits and reporting.
