Job summary

EveryMind is seeking an Human Resource Specialist to lead payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS processes in a nonprofit setting. You will ensure accurate payroll, benefits enrollment, and regulatory compliance while partnering with finance, benefits brokers, and program leaders.

You will also support audits, leave management, employee relations, and staff development, contributing to a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive HR experience with payroll/benefits administration.
• Experience independently processing and auditing payroll, garnishments, W-2s, ACH/direct deposit, and benefit deductions.
• HRIS/payroll proficiency; Paycom preferred; nonprofit/human services experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage full payroll cycle: inputs, timekeeping, processing, approvals, reconciliations, audits, and final pay.
• Administer wages, overtime, deductions, tax reporting, year-end forms, and record retention with Finance and vendors.
• Maintain payroll data in Paycom or HRIS; resolve discrepancies and respond to verification requests; protect confidential information.
• Administer employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA/FSA, retirement); open enrollment and COBRA handling.
• Coordinate with finance, brokers, insurers, and vendors; reconcile invoices and retirement deferrals.
• Coordinate annual audits, census data, Form 5500, and corrective actions.
• Support leave management and transitions; manage separations and documentation.
• Support employee relations investigations and trainings; foster engagement and wellness initiatives.
• Develop SOPs and training for payroll, timekeeping, compensation, benefits; provide cross-training for coverage.
