Job summary

LHH is seeking an HR/Payroll Manager for a mission-driven nonprofit in the DC area. The role partners with the HR Director to oversee payroll, benefits, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.

You will manage bi-weekly multi-state payroll, payroll audits, 401(k) administration, and FMLA/leave across states, while ensuring HRIS data integrity and accurate reporting.

• Payroll audits, reconciliations, deductions & taxes.
• FMLA, disability & multi-state leave.
• HRIS data integrity and reporting.
• Benefits and HR operations support.
• Handle employee relations and performance management.
• Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and benefits administration.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll processing across multiple states on a bi-weekly basis.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with tax and deduction requirements.
• Administer 401(k) plans and oversee related reporting.
• Manage FMLA, disability and multi-state leave processes.
• Maintain HRIS data integrity and generate reports for leadership.
• Support benefits administration and HR operations tasks.
• Assist HR Director with recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations initiatives.
