Job summary

RealREPP partners with a growing organization to hire an Associate Accountant in California. The role focuses on payroll processing, maintaining records, and ensuring accuracy with strong compliance practices. 0–3 years of payroll experience and an Associate’s degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience preferred.
• 0-3 years of payroll experience preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll deductions, tax forms, and employment verification processes preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Adaptable and flexible in changing environments.
• Works effectively under direct supervision and within established guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain employee payroll records, including direct deposit and federal/state tax withholding updates.
• Assist with wage garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and other payroll deductions.
• Process employment verification requests while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
• Support audits, unemployment claims, subpoenas, and other compliance-related payroll requests.
• Enter, validate, and monitor payroll data to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
• Assist with payroll processing and special projects as assigned.
• Follow company policies, legal requirements, and accounting standards.
• Respond promptly to employee and external inquiries.
