Job summary

City of Greensboro Finance Department, Payroll Analyst role, seeks an analytical professional to oversee payroll functions, audit timekeeping, and lead Payroll Technicians. You will ensure accurate pay, resolve discrepancies, maintain system configurations, and support reporting with a strong focus on compliance.

The position reports to the Assistant Payroll Manager and collaborates with Finance, IT, and department Liaisons to uphold payroll integrity across the organization.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher, or CPP with 7+ years payroll experience.
• 4+ years of payroll best practices; knowledge of federal/state processing regulations.
• Experience with ERP payroll systems, Workforce Management (Infor), or similar systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Audit timekeeping records and verify hours, attendance, codes, and deductions.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies with City departments and Liaisons.
• Perform historical edits and leave balance audits as needed.
• Guide department Liaisons on timekeeping requirements and coding practices.
• Review payroll data for errors, taxes, benefits, and reporting accuracy.
• Coordinate annual payroll year-end rollover activities and system configs.
• Maintain and test payroll pay/deduction codes for accuracy.
• Lead payroll system testing and validate updates with IT/Benefits teams.
• Serve as lead contact for Infor support tickets and issue resolution.
• Provide analytical support for payroll initiatives and projects.
• Act as backup for Payroll Technician during absences.
