Job summary

City of Greensboro, NC is seeking a Payroll Analyst to support the Assistant Payroll Manager and lead Payroll Technicians. You will audit timekeeping, monitor payroll processes, and maintain system configurations to ensure accurate and compliant payroll operations.

You will collaborate with Finance, IT, and department liaisons to resolve discrepancies, test system changes, and prepare payroll reports. A strong background in ERP payroll systems and MS Office is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher; CPP certification (or equivalency) with 7+ years payroll experience.
• 4+ years of payroll best practices; federal and state processing regulations regarding payroll and taxes.
• Experience with an ERP payroll system, Workforce Management/Infor, or related payroll processing systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Copilot, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Audit employee timekeeping records in Workforce Management to verify hours, attendance, schedules, pay and documentation.
• Research and resolve payroll-impacting discrepancies in collaboration with City departments.
• Perform historical edits and leave balance audits.
• Lead and guide Payroll Technicians on timekeeping requirements and procedures.
• Review payroll data to identify errors, unusual activity, and compliance concerns.
• Coordinate year-end and monthly payroll reports and reconciliations.
• Coordinate payroll system tests and test scenarios for updates and interfaces.
• Serve as lead for Infor support tickets and payroll-related projects.
• Back up Payroll Technician during absences and support team development.
• Reconcile payroll registers and payroll-to-general-ledger accounts with Finance staff.
• Maintain payroll documentation and ensure adherence to policies and controls.
• Collaborate with employees and stakeholders to resolve payroll issues and ensure smooth operations.
