Job summary

Steel of West Virginia, a subsidiary of Steel Dynamics, Inc., is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage weekly payroll for 700+ employees. You will prepare journal entries, analyze payroll reports, and ensure accurate compensation while maintaining confidentiality across the organization.

The role requires a 4-year degree in accounting or business and strong Excel skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Qualifications

At least a 4-year degree in accounting or business.
High proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to execute and document processes.

Responsibilities

Manage and process payroll weekly for 700+ employees.
Communicate with management and employees regarding pay and benefits.
Prepare and analyze reports in UKG payroll software, as well as Excel.
Process voluntary and involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments.
Maintain confidentiality of employee information.
Write, propose, and posting journal entries.
Reconcile general and subledger accounts.
Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures and complying with SOX.
Support accounting functions, as needed.
Special projects and additional duties as assigned.
