Job summary

The Allen County Public Library is seeking a Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join our Financial Services team. You will handle payroll processing, accounting support, cash management, accounts payable, and pension records with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

You will contribute to timely financial reporting, year-end processes, and regulatory adherence, while supporting Indiana state reporting requirements and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Experience with payroll processing and accounting principles.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Comfort using financial systems and data analysis tools.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll using automated systems with accuracy and policy compliance.
• Review and resolve payroll discrepancies including pay, benefits, and timekeeping.
• Manage garnishments, deferred compensation, and payroll-related transactions.
• Prepare payroll reports and ensure compliance with federal and state tax filings.
• Perform general ledger entries, reconciliations, and withholding transmittals.
• Support gift fund accounting and state reporting (Indiana).
• Assist with grant accounting and reporting.
• Support cash handling and reconcile bank accounts with third-party processors.
• Ensure internal controls for all financial transactions.
• Manage vendor payments, coding, and vendor records in the GL.
• Process checks and reconcile vendor statements.
• Provide backup for pension and annuity records (INPRS).
• Coordinate year-end processes and reporting deadlines.
• Coordinate records retention per state requirements.
