Job summary

Xaira Therapeutics, a biotech company, is seeking a Payroll Accounting Manager to oversee payroll administration and the related accounting close cycle. You will ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, across US and UK jurisdictions, while maintaining compliance with payroll tax and wage laws.

You will own the payroll process, maintain systems, and partner with HR and Accounting to build scalable payroll infrastructure, enabling robust controls and efficient month-end close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years in payroll with multi-state exposure.
• Experience with payroll journal entries, reconciliations, and close cycles.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll for all employees, including bonuses and off-cycle payments.
• Process multi-state payroll timely and accurately.
• Reconcile payroll registers across US and UK jurisdictions.
• Maintain payroll calendars and deadlines.
• Handle new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, promotions, and LOA payroll.
• Administer LOA payroll calculations with compliance.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and GL reconciliations.
• Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for payroll accounts.
• Classify payroll costs in ERP systems and maintain reconciliation packages.
• Support audits with payroll-related schedules and responses.
