Job summary

Discovery Land Company is seeking a Payroll Coordinator at Homewood Mountain & Lake Club on Lake Tahoe's West Shore in California. This entry-level role supports the Finance team with payroll processing, GL maintenance, and basic accounting across multiple entities, in a resort setting.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, discreet, and eager to grow in accounting and finance. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with payroll systems (Workday experience a plus) are desirable.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in payroll and/or accounting.
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC, QuickBooks, Sage).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with internal controls and employment tax laws.
• Collaborate with HR to resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Assist with payroll journal entries and GL mapping between systems.
• Support system testing and payroll platform upgrades (e.g., Workday).
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
• Run audit reports to ensure payroll data accuracy.
• Assist Treasury with bank reconciliations and wire/ACH setups.
