McCarl's LLC is seeking a Payroll Accountant to ensure accurate weekly payroll processing for union and non-union staff in a construction environment. You will review time data, set pay rates and deductions, and maintain payroll records.

The role focuses on payroll accounting, reconciliations, tax filings, and regulatory compliance, with opportunities to improve controls and support audits. Strong Excel skills and multi-state experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business.
• 1–3 years of payroll experience in the construction industry.
• Union payroll experience required.
• Certified payroll and prevailing wage experience preferred.
• Multi-state payroll experience preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of payroll taxes and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with union payroll, fringe benefits, and prevailing wage requirements.
• Experience with Vista by Viewpoint or similar ERP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employee groups.
• Review time entries, pay rates, deductions, and earnings for accuracy.
• Process payroll adjustments, retroactive payments, corrections, and terminations.
• Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and prepare payroll schedules.
• Prepare payroll tax filings and W-2 processing.
• Support audits and drive payroll process improvements.
• Assist HR with employee onboarding and payroll changes.
• Collaborate with management on payroll compliance and reporting.
