Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is hiring for a senior Java-focused backend engineer in Charlotte, NC. The role emphasizes Spring MVC/Boot, REST APIs, and microservices with exposure to payments rails and cloud/Kubernetes environments.

The candidate should bring 10+ years of hands-on Java experience, solid OO design skills, and proficiency in CI/CD, Git, and build tools. AI tooling familiarity is a plus and collaboration within an Agile team is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in Java and related technologies.
• Hands-on with Spring MVC, Spring Boot and Rest API.
• Experience with microservices, Kafka, cloud and container orchestration.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automation and testing practices.
• Knowledge of payments rails/workflows (FedWire, SWIFT, ISO) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Java-based backend development across Spring MVC/Boot microservices.
• Design scalable architectures and reusable libraries in Java.
• Work with payments rails and related tech stacks.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment with CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and maintain code quality.

Roles & Responsibilities

• 10+ years of experience in Java, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Rest API, microservices, Kafka, Cloud, Mulesoft,MQ, Kubernet.
• Experiences working with payments rails/products, such as FedWire, Chips, TCH, SEPA, Wires, ACH, Real Time Payments, SWIFT, ISO etc.
• Hands-on experience with AI models and tools, such as Copilot, Claude, etc a plus
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, Agile way of working and CI/CD concepts.
• Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
• Skill for writing reusable Java libraries
• Knowledge of concurrency patterns in Java
• Familiarity with concepts of Spring Boot, Rest API, Micro service Architecture
• Knack for writing clean, readable Java code
• Experience with both external and embedded databases
• Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Basic understanding of the class loading mechanism in Java
• Basic understanding of JVM, its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds
• Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Familiarity with build tools such as Ant, Maven, and Gradle
• Familiarity with concepts of CI/CD, Kafka, MQ, Performance Improvement, Splunk, SQL

Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000 a year
