Job summary

Tabs is seeking a Payments Operations Lead to build and own payment operations in New York. This founding role reports to the VP of Finance and will move billions in gross payment volume onto Tabs rails, owning reconciliation, disputes, reserves, fraud, and merchant risk.

You will establish the function, set standards, and drive onboarding, risk management, and compliance across a growing base of large merchants in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in payments operations, risk, or fraud and dispute operations.
• Experience with merchant onboarding, reconciliations, and disputes workflows.
• Familiarity with ACH returns and card chargebacks.

Responsibilities

• Build the payments function: select systems, define architecture, hire the team.
• Own the risk register and set detection triggers and remediation paths.
• Define reserve strategy and thresholds by merchant tier.
• Run reconciliation across balances and settlements daily.
• Set AML and compliance posture with payment partners.
• Own disputes and chargebacks process and timelines.
• Scale onboarding and migration for hundreds of merchants.
