Job summary

Sierra AI is seeking a backend/infrastructure engineer to own high-reliability services across payments, security, real-time voice, and LLMs. You will design and ship critical systems at scale from design through on-call operations.

You will work in a mostly in-person environment in San Francisco, collaborating with teams across North America and beyond. A strong security mindset and Go experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building backend, platform, or infrastructure systems.
• Strong security mindset for system design.
• Rigorous correctness under failure: retries, idempotency, timeouts.
• Fluency in Go and ownership of systems end-to-end.
• Comfort with small teams and broad scope; build clean abstractions.
• Clear communication to engineers and non-engineers.
• Degree in CS or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Build real-time card capture for voice across telephony providers.
• Extend tokenization platform for short-lived tokens.
• Own payments egress control plane with versioned policies.
• Ensure at-most-once payment actions and accurate monitoring.
• Deterministic detection to keep card data out of LLMs.
• Grow platform beyond cards with privacy vault for PII.
